Watermelon Puffy Sticker

Even though I've been cranking out Christmas cards,

I haven't given up on summer!

Here's proof~

(stamp: Simon Says Stamp Wild Beauty sentiment  dies:WPlus9 Written On Ribbon,Papertrey Ink Celebrate Big customer appreciation set banner)

Lovin' this inspiration photo challenge~

I'm using these colors~

This puffy watermelon sticker creates a sparkly surprise focal point for the following Work It Wednesday.

Honestly, I'm relishing the warmer weather.

Plus, the bright colors in blogland make me happy!

Let's hold out for summer as long as we can~

It's Who's Around It

Love this precious sentiment~

(stamps: Essentials by Ellen Homespun Holiday  die: Avery Elle Wonky Stitches)

I was inspired by the following challenge to go with candy land stripes and dots for a Christmas card.

If inspiration hits, especially for a Christmas card, I'm pretty pleased with myself.

I think it's worth setting aside vacuuming for one more day~

 I'm just sayin'. :)

Praying your day is peaceful~

Stay Fresh

I invested in this pineapple image recently~

(stamps: Avery Elle Stay Fresh, Sweet n' Sassy Stamps Grunge Elements   dies: Papertrey Ink Tag Sale #5,Avery Elle Stay Fresh)

I added gold paper to shadow both image and tag for that little bit of "extra" goin' on!

Work It Wednesday July 2017: Add Sparkle!
 (gold paper and shiny sequins)

It's the middle of the week friends~are you surviving ok?

Hang in there~

Beauty Is Not in the Face

I'm really digging the black and white focal points (like florals) that's popular now.

I'm also all about the stripes!

At least 80% of the tops I wear now are striped.

Let's just say I'm invested, rather than obsessive.

It just sounds better.

(stamps: Verve Kindness Matters,Unity Kit of the Month 11/15  die: My Favorite Things Wonky Windows,Verve Great Kindness  other:Papertrey Ink Winter Woods Paper Collection)

The following challenge had me grab for this Unity sentiment~

'If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely'

I went with the following sketch~

Papertrey July Blog Hop Challenge

I'm thrilled I get to participate in the hop at Papertrey Ink today.

(Papertrey Ink What the Doodle Snowflakes/A Thrill of Hope/Winter Woods Paper)

Here's the challenge~

I went with muted tones and soft colors of Aqua Mist,Lavender Moon and Sweet Blush.

By the way, the song "Lavender Blue" was interpreted by the younger class of my girls' dance studio last month and it's looping in my head now!!!  :0

Such a sweet dilly dilly....

Blessed Color Blocking

I love color blocking and angled sections~

(stamps: Papertrey Ink Palm Prints  die:Papertrey Ink Counting My Blessings)

There are at least three ways to achieve blocking, which are demonstrated at

hosted by  Laurie

My solid remnants were used in this card~love when I can incorporate the slivers!

I used the photo in the following challenge to guide my color scheme.

Gold accents are IN IN IN and I LOVE IT.

I think it adds sophistication to any item.

Creating this card was a great start to my week~hope to get more crafty time in!

Thanks for stopping in friends~

Modern Tree

I've had this tree panel sitting on my desk for quite some time.

It needed to be seen on a card!

(stamps: Papertrey Ink Mighty Oak, Verve Great Friend,Lawn Fawn Happy Happy Happy  dies: Verve Great Kindness, My Favorite Things Sentiment Strips,Avery Elle Double Pierced Rectangles)

The following bold colors compliment the black and white graphic leaves~

Look closely for the sliver of green (it's a modern grass line).

I usually struggle with primary colors, but with this project, I enjoyed it!

Smile, Family, & Joy

We got back about a week ago from visiting my family in Hawaii.

I've missed them so much!!!!

Mom and Dad look great and so do my sisters and their families. ;()

There were lots of smiles~so grateful the Lord let us travel to see them.

(stamps: Verve Great Friend  dies: Verve Great Kindness, My Favorite Things Lucky Stars, Avery Elle Wonky Stitches)

Mom and Dad went over and beyond in hosting I was inspired by the latest challenge at Simon Says Stamp.

I've wanted to mix up my stars and florals for some time now, and this challenge pushed me to try it!

I've got two great sets of stars from My Favorite Things (featured product) so I hope to get at least one more done in time for this challenge~

I don't know about you...but focusing is a struggle!

I multi-task wayyyy too often and unnecessarily.

(stamp: My Favorite Things Bokeh Builder  die: My Favorite Things Tree-mendous)

The Lord leads me to prioritize.

If not...I'm gonna lose it, people.

One day at a time...

This day, I chose this challenge...

Celebrating With Patterned Paper

I have a niece who is celebrating her birthday~

(stamps: Prima Marketing Holiday Bliss  dies:My Favorite Things Inside & Out Stitched Stars/Stitched Hexagons,Spellbinders Classic Circles,Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Banner Duo,Avery Elle Dotted Elle-ments,Papertrey Ink Customer Appreciation Celebrate Big banner)

The yellow patterned paper was a left over piece that I framed the birthday character with.

 I built up from there~

I hope you are making the most of the day and squeezing in a bit of crafting time!

I have a ton of things to do...but I wanted to get some "me time" in~plus I needed a card!

That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. :)

Pantone Chip Inspiration

hosted by Lexi

If you have the tiniest bits of solid cardstock pieces saved~this is the challenge for you!

I was inspired to create three cards from my solid cardstock remnants.

(SNOWFLAKE CARD: Papertrey Ink What the Doodle Snowflakes/A Thrill of Hope
NOEL CARD:Papertrey Ink Make It Market Tinsel & Tags/In the Meadow/Spruce & Sprigs
AFLOAT CARD:What the Doodle Waves)

Two of them are CHRISTMAS guys....I'm super super proud of myself for looking ahead. ;)

I'm patting myself on the back for the masculine card too...
I can almost hear the roar of the crowd's applause!!!

Okay, I'll end my lap around the arena now. ;)

 Thanks for stopping in~

Always True

Sometimes I just want to stamp and have at it...

(stamps: Winnie & Walter In Bloom:Eva's Favorite Flowers/True)

I followed the lead of this inspiration...using the colors and designing floral "stripes" with black highlighted details.

I hope to get more crafting in today before my errands take over.

Thank you so much for stopping by~

Because I Love You

Flamingo paper followed me home :)
and I wanted to make a just because creation.

(stamp: My Favorite Things Because You  die: My Favorite Things Die-namics Peek-a-Boo Wonky Windows/Because You, Spellbinders Classic Circles  other:washi tape for the stripes)

I used this sketch, but in landscape form, to make room for the script die cut.

Time Out Challenge #85: Home Sweet Home

has been on my mind!

I'm positive it influenced my recent tropical paper purchase. ;)

Aloha & Mahalo!

Duo With Greens and Touch of Copper

(stamps:Hero Arts Stamp & Cut Flowers,Essentials by Ellen Courage Stamp & Die, Avery Elle Double Pierced Rectangles)

I designed a couple of cards that carry a larger portion of greens and touch of copper (twine) as per the following gorgeous inspiration~

When I'm tempted by shiny accents at the store~I tend to grab the copper.

It's like the other white meat of shinies, you know?

It gets me out of choosing silver or gold ;).

That's it for me today~thanks for stopping by!

Window Sentiment

With the right sentiment, a simple window is all you need.

(stamp:Pretty Pink Posh Thoughtful Greetings  die:Spellbinders Classic Circles)

My "window" was a pretty scrap sitting on my desk~

I re-purposed this trendy clothing tag by adding a ribbon and button.

I don't know when I've last pulled out a needle and thread...

it felt good, it really did.

Simon Says Stamp (Monday): Touchy Feely

HoMe Is WhErE It'S aT

(dies: SugarPea Designs Home Sweet Home,My Favorite Things Wonky Stitched Circles)

I love cutting panels at an angle and keeping it abstract~

and those abstract angles keep it masculine.

I added buttons for a 3D effect (I am hand delivering this one) which fits this challenge...

I know lots of my friends are traveling these days~and all I can think is how happy they'll be to get back home. ;)

I could use a staycation right about now...

(stamp: My Favorite Things Because You  other: patterned paper gift from a Verve order~thank you!!!)

It's our 25th wedding anniversary today guys!!!

I'm kind of in shock, seriously.

I mean, I hoped we would make it this far...I just didn't expect to get here so fast!

Time flies when you're raising kids and doing life, I guess.

I wouldn't do it with anyone else, I know that~

Made this card for my guy~I even gave him a fist pump.

Honestly, we both deserve trophies or something. ;)

Thanks for stopping in~

Masculine Christmas Card Noel

Well look who decided to get a Christmas card done....

(stamp:Verve Winter Tree  dies:My Favorite Things Horizontal Stitched Strips,Verve Winter Fun)

December Marlena will be thanking June Marlena for her creation!

I went clean and graphic with this card for The Card Concept #75.

Purple/blue debuted instead of pink, but I used the tan chairs and bold pattern for inspiration.

The following masculine challenges had me add a watercolored striped panel that's been sitting on my desk for months.

Thanks for stopping in~

I Heart Dad

I love my dad!

(stamp: Hero Arts CL335  dies:Papertrey Ink Inspired:Hope, Verve Great Kindness)

I threw in just a couple of his best qualities here~

Thank you, masculine card challenges, for motivating me to create a card in time for Father's Day.

Now if I could just mail it in time~

Thank You Dance Teachers

My girlies needed cards to fill with written love for their amazing dance teachers~

I went with our studio's dance colors~

(stamps: Verve Potter's Clay,Stampin' Up End Pointe   die:Papertrey Ink Tag Sale #)

I die-cut rectangles to insert (my girlies share the same each card will have both of their hearts written).

I figure the pressure to thank their teachers for 8 years of amazing  support could be overwhelming~

As the school year is winding to a close...I am enjoying these little moments of breathing craft and post.

Thanks for stopping in~

Sunday, June 4, 2017

Friends, it's been an eventful month or so of dance!

Within the past 6 weeks my girlies have competed in two competitions and had their recital.

Sadly, it all concluded with goodbyes.

The only comfort through this were love-ya gifts.

Little bit of background info: the senior performance company was paired with the junior performance company in Big Sis/Little Sis format.

Since there are more juniors than of my daughters has three littles and my other daughter has two.

Count 'em...FIVE littles to look for.

I looked HIGH & LOW for dance-related gifts for my girlies to give their little sisters.

After failing miserably...I dug around my craft room and found these dance embellishments (which I spray painted lime to match the leaves on bright patterned paper).

Know that the dance embellishments, little frames...even the spraypaint...

were for separate "didn't get done" projects that saved me when I needed it!!!!

The old Marlena was looking out for the now Marlena~

who says hoarding doesn't pay off now and again.

I created tags to match, with second-hand ballet stamps I found forever ago.

(stamps:Hero Arts Stamp & Cut Alpha Tabs,Stampin' Up End Pointe  dies: Verve Pennant Trim, Papertrey Ink Tag Sale #5   other: Want2Scrap Dance embellishment)

Here's the back~

(stamp:Verve Beautiful Things sentiment  die:Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Banner Duo 1)

It's all a blur friends~glad there's a video and pictures to document it!

The little sisters gave rave reviews of their gifts, apparently~yayyy!!!!!

I'm entering the following challenges~

Create Along With Us: May 2017

I hoard strips of cardstock....

(stamp: Papertrey Ink Movers & Shakers Sentiments  die:Papertrey Ink Winter Woods)

So when I saw Wanda's creation for Papertrey's newest release...

I was inspired~from the sectioned sentiment down to the colorful dots.

I washi-blocked a sentiment from Movers & Shakers and stamped each phrase on a delicious strip.

Hope your day is floating along smoothly friends~

Faith Card

I assembled a card with bright cutouts that were laying on my desk.

I'd rather get a card done than stash them away~

(stamp: My Favorite Things Bokeh Builder  dies:Simon Says Stamp Painted Faith,My Favorite Things Wonky Stitched Circle,Sweet 'n Sassy New Beginnings butterfly)

This time I stamped the dots~

 Have a wonderful weekend, friends!

Because You Make My Heart Happy

(stamps: My Favorite Things Because You  dies: My Favorite Things Because You/Wonky Stitched Circle,Sweet 'n Sassy New Beginnings butterfly)

A water colored circle sitting on my desk needed a card to sit on.

This BRIGHT pack of paper seemed to play well with it.

I die-cut a dotty butterfly and dotty circle for

Hey guys, IT. IS. FRIDAY.

(stamp: Essentials by Ellen Stay Golden  dies: Essentials by Ellen Stay Golden,Die-namics Cross-Stitch Oval)

Hope you are having a fine Monday~

I have a card to share, it's for the

Ellen Hutson May Mix It Up Challenge with Reverse Confetti.

I pulled out my Reverse Confetti Fright Night dp for the stitched oval panel~

I fussy cut around the sentiment~this font and placement has just the right dips and placement for such a technique.

Thanks for stopping in~
