Express Yourself

I chose Carrie Gaskin, ColourQ #77 winner to CASE today.

She used paper piercing to follow the butterflies, which inspired me to paper pierce the steam in this card.

I paper pieced the cup and outlined it with a Souffle pen.

I used ColourQ's colors here.

There IS olive in the stripe under the ribbon loops I stitched.

The inspiration for the ribbon treatment is from

A Skirted Pleat

I wanted to do one more card for

This time, it is more a turquoise hue than teal.

With my box-pleat technique...I was able to make this skirt.

This time, I used a thick DP and painted it.

You can see the original design within the pleats.
I pinched the "valleys" from behind, while I painted with DecoArt Americana asphaltum (brown) acrylic paint.

The decorated "plateaus" were stamped with a BoBunny wave stamp on separate pieces and applied to the skirt.

I wasn't taking any chances.  ;)

It was inked with light mocha and stamped first and then repeated with Scribbles turquoise 3D paint.

As long as you apply the 3D paint with a sponge brush, it will stamp flat.

I really like the shimmery color!

I hope you like it. ;)

Thanks for stopping by. ;)

~We Are In Love~

My hubby and I are still in love after 19 years of marriage.

Doesn't that sound better than "we still love each other after 19 years of marriage"?

C'mon, ya know it sounds way better. ;)

Here's a closeup.

Just in case you can't figure out my card...check out the title of this post.

I don't want you to spend too much time wasted here...I'll probably have to "spell it out" for my husband too.

Being "in love" means we still love each other.

But said in a nicer way. ;)

I just showed love by choosing a nicer way to say "I still love you."

Love is a verb.
Amen?! ;)

Inspired by:

There IS paint there...gorgeous 3D Scribbles Iridescent Shimmering Teal.  I used it to stamp the hearts and to "scribble"...'cause that's what it's created for.

Thanks for stopping in's always a pleasure. ;)

The challenge is to get inspired by blogger Janelle.

You need to click to her blog and then come back.

If you've actually made it back, you'll see why there is nothing more to be said.

It is humbling and uplifting.

All rolled up in one Janelle.

I am honored to make a one layered card that represents what I HEAR in her words she shares with us.

Right now.

Can there be a voice any sweeter?

If You Like Box-Pleats Tutorial...and a Waltz

I love making/using these box-pleats...if you like the look too and want to know how to do it...keep on reading.

I had to play around with my Scor-Pal and paper to get this down

right...especially since I was starting from scratch.

It's down to a science enough to share now.

First, make sure you have THICK cardstock...I use 110lb.

I was surprised to hear that paper weighed anything too. ;), you'll need something to score and measure with.

It took me awhile to treat myself to a Scor-Pal.

It really does help.

Lay your paper lengthwise so that it goes from 1"-10 1/2".

 See those lines?

Don't draw them in.

I just made them visible for you, ok?

I found the easiest way to remember what I was doing,

...was to think,

Start at 1", SCORE....that's ONE.

Then, TWICE step 1/4" to the right and score each time.
 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" (TWO,THREE).

Then, you hop to 2 1/2" and score (ONE).

Score at 2 3/4" (TWO) and 3" (THREE).

You should have your "waltz" recorded like this.

You keep on going until you get to the end of the paper at 10",10 1/4",10 1/2".

Now the real fun begins. ;)

If you want to trim it shorter, now is the time to do it, before you start creasing.

Trust really is the best time.

If you decide to trim's still doable...

but you'll have bendy pleats.

Fold at the first and third lines this way...skipping the second for now.

Now you will make the "valley".

Now, crease.

You can see it started to form.

Keep on going until you have this.

But, without the green lines. ;)

Once you get the hang of can decorate it.

It's best to stamp it BEFORE scoring.

Hope you were inspired to try this technique.

Thanks for stopping by~ it's always a pleasure. ;)

Box-Pleated Candle Luminaries

I want to share a home decor project today.

I was inspired to get it done for Flourishes' Timeless Tuesday #137-
"create something to adorn your table".

Candle Luminaries (for battery-operated candles ONLY...)
NO FIRES, OK??? ;)

Each luminary is fashioned from an 8 1/2" X 11" white 110 lb cardstock,

 LIGHTLY pressed randomly with
a Tim Holtz Distress spiced marmalade ink pad.
There is a strip of fall DP with a row of green DP cut from Papertrey Ink's eyelet lace border die.
I then scored the cardstock and DP using my box pleated scoring.

I inked up a flourish with Adirondac butterscotch acrylic gave a nice yellow shimmer.

I learned that from
Stamping with Acrylic Paint.

See the thick chipboard accents?

I'm used Erin's technique. Her video tutorial is on

Here are the luminaries IN ACTION. ;)

The verse is a focus, so I am entering it in

The colors are inspired by

I used distress inks, so I am also entering it in

Don't Just Breathe

I'm surprised with what I ended up with today.

Sometimes that happens.

Not surprised - good or bad -

...just surprised. ;)

I stamped the flowers in Staz On Mustard and then masked it.

I then took my Tim Holtz ink pad and created my own DP.

I LOVE this look.

I took my Copic yellow and Memento New Sprout and shaded around the flowers.

The edges of both layers were brushed with brown Memento ink.

My sentiment is created from lovely alphabet-script stickers I've had in my stash for quite awhile.

Thick Chipboard and a Thank You

Erin's video tutorial shows you how to make thick chipboard accents.

I was able to use this technique to make my daughter's Sunday School Teacher a thank you card/gift (removable bookmark).

I figured a golden apple would look cool.

I love these GINORMOUS paperclips...I think I found them at Target.

There are 5 layers of chipboard here..counting the gold layer.

It is layered on a Mat Stack 3 shape cut from a Papertrey coaster.

I cut another layer of DP to decorate it.

Just so you can see the apple shine...

brace yourself....

Hope I didn't blind you. ;)

This gold chipboard came with something I bought...3 SHEETS-so glad I saved it!

~All Girl~

I love pink and brown together.

It's so cool how the ribbon border mimics the flower I made with my Memento ink teardrop.

I didn't plan that!

The center is stamped with a BoBunny Barefoot and Bliss circle stamp.

I dotted "stitches" for each petal.

L8R Gator and Box-Pleats Again!

I don't say "goodbye".
My signoff on the phone (or anytime for that matter) is

"talk to ya later".

 It's a hopeful response.

I must have issues. ;)

Check out this "texty" phrase (actually, I don't text...but it made sense to me)...

I told you I love making box-pleats!
If you are interested, I made a BOX-PLEATS TUTORIAL HERE.
Those humongous numbers? (the 7 is upside down for "L")
Leftover Mailbox/House Numbers!

They already have adhesive on them...and they are PAINTABLE!!!
I painted this white flower with my Copic, to add a "brown" to my CAS-ual Friday submission.  I did the same to the waxed thread.

I also wanted to try
technique again!
Last card for
to get closer to their goal of 1000 submissions.
Also, another try at

A Box- Pleated Christmas

I wore pleated skirts for 6 years straight.

Not because I liked them.

They weren't the height of fashion "back in the day".

I wore them because I HAD to.

That's right.

Catholic school uniforms.

Who knew they would actually BE IN FASHION???!!!

Not to wear (have you ever had to IRON pleats???!!!)

...but to

CREATE with!

These are soooo fun to score....

and so fun to create variegated colors with.

If you are interested, I made a BOX-PLEATS TUTORIAL HERE.

I used Memento markers and a Copic marker to create a "fizz" rising up.

I also did
technique again!

There is less than an hour to help out
to get closer to their goal of 1000 submissions.
I believe I have enough white to show off here. ;)

I am impressed with how many they got!

has some lovely inspiration!!!! ;)

It's very subtle..but I learned it at
Papertrey Ink's Make it Monday #33 Frosted Images.
There is a video to learn the technique...I need to do it again didn't come out as frosty as I would have liked...maybe a darker paper, perhaps?

(I was inspired to SEW on this card...first time ever after seeing the thread!! The title got me first, though..and I incorporated the red/poppy in my card)
